The aims of this project-based course are to give you a basic
understanding of theatre costume design in the UK and how it is taught. You will
experience various aspects of the subject through discussion, research and
practical work, and become aware of the distinct difference between costume and
fashion design.
The course will include a lecture on the history of
costume in relation to character and scenario, followed by a visit to the
V&A museum where you will be shown how to gather information to use in your
designs. You will be guided in how to interpret your ideas in both an historical
and contemporary context, and in how to illustrate your concepts through drawing
and the use of mixed media.
Wimbledon College of Art is world renowned for its film and theatre design
and interpretation courses, and offers students a friendly and supportive
environment.
What is included?
- 15 hours of General English tuition per week, Monday to Friday 09.00 - 12.20
- Normally 7 hours of college options over 2 afternoons per week

- For English language, average 10 students, maximum 12.
- For college option, average 8 students, maximum 16.
What is the minimum age?

Do I need to have experience in the subject I want to
study?
No. These courses are available to all students irrelevant of
their previous art and design experience.
