Course Aims

• To provide students with experience of a variety of Art and Design topics introduced to them in the form of projects

Course Content

Do you have a digital camera but are unsure how to use it? This course will introduce digital cameras and the digital workflow, giving you the chance to learn some basics about image capture through to correction and final output.

To introduce students to the fashion retail industry and buying and merchandising specifically for the fashion industry.

The first section of the course will provide an overview of the UK and European retail environment using topical examples of different types of retailers. You will discuss the various options available to modern retail outlet and examine factors affecting consumer behaviour.

Course Aims

You will gain insight into the role of the fashion stylist in fashion editorial, advertorial, catwalk show and music industry promotion, to work towards the creation of a set of styled images. 

Course Content

The course will be delivered through a series of theoretical lectures and practical workshops. Students will interpret current designer collections to create their own styled image. The results will be photographed at the end of the course.

This project-based course is an ideal way of learning the process behind successful interior design and decoration. Whether you hope to eventually be taking a brief from a client or simply want to decorate your own home, this will show you how to produce schemes and specify effectively for them.

Colour, materials and lighting are all considered, along with window treatments, furniture and soft furnishings, plus texture for walls and floors. You will enjoy the interactive nature of the class, which involves a number of practical exercises, studio talks and visits to showrooms.

This programme will introduce you to the UK’s approach to media (journalism and TV), marketing and advertising through an accessible series of talks, fun
group discussions and exciting guided visits to London’s major media institutions and places of interest.

You will also learn about the history behind the world renowned British Media Industry and how we communicate using the English language in the media.

Shakespeare is synonymous with London. The Globe on the vibrant Southbank,
along with London's theatre districts, are internationally famous and attract
audiences from all around world. For this course you will study at the Drama
Centre London, a part of Central Saint Martins, where you will begin with
workshops to free your acting skills and develop techniques in movement, voice,
improvisation and creating a character.

This course will start with a visual history of architecture in London, where
you will explore and identify themes that shape the city's landscape from the
past, present and future. You will discuss form, function, process and
materials, and develop your own critical view of architecture. Following this
introduction you will work on a range of practical design projects, supported by
architectural drawing and modelmaking workshops to assist in your presentation
techniques. By the end of the course you will have an understanding of

Design/Make - the physical practice of making art

Set in the intimate atmosphere of Wimbledon College of Art's Foundation
workshops, students will be encouraged to experience the creative energy of
design & make.

During this course students will have the opportunity to look at the work of
contemporary artists and directors making experimental video. The course will
also include a brief history of video art.

Course Aims

The course is designed to introduce students to graphic design
and design for advertising. It will build upon students visual research skills
when developing ideas through project work and will enable students to
communicate their ideas both verbally and visually through portfolio work.

Course Content

Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an
ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that
transfer ink as a sharp-edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is
moved across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the threads of the
woven mesh in the open areas.

The aims of this course are to enable you to present your fashion design ideas to a higher standard, to be able to show the research and creative process as you develop finished designs, and to have a good understanding of the fashion industry and current designers in the UK. You will develop ideas and record them in a sketchbook; develop a fashion vocabulary through analysing collections; build confidence when researching new ideas through short projects; and be able to present your designs both verbally and in a two-dimensional format.
