Do you have a digital camera but are unsure how to use it? This course will introduce digital cameras and the digital workflow, giving you the chance to learn some basics about image capture through to correction and final output.
Course Aims
- To introduce students to the digital photography and the digital workflow
- To provide basic skills in digital camera operations
- To learn some basics about image capture through to correction and final output
- Students will be introduced to basic photo practice and an appreciation of the artistic merits of photography
The programme will consist of:
- Combined theory and practical workshops
- Group discussions and tutorials
- Visits to outside locations in London for photo shoots
Students will cover the following:
- Use and control of a a digital camera
- Pixels, resolution and file formats
- Effective camera use for image composition
- Introduction to the different genres of photography, e.g. reportage and documentary, portraiture, urban landscape
- Getting started in Photoshop.
At the end of the course students will:
- Be competent in the use of equipment
- Be able to document a photographic assignment
Materials etc.
Please note you will need to bring your own digital camera.
What is included?
- 15 hours of General English tuition per week, Monday to Friday 09.00 - 12.20
- Normally 7 hours of college options over 2 afternoons per week

How many students in a class?
For English language, average 10 students, maximum 12.
For college option, average 8 students, maximum 16.
What is the minimum age?
16.
Do I need to have experience in the subject I want to study?
No. These courses are available to all students irrelevant of their previous art and design experience.
